Here are some photos from the figure sculpture workshop I taught in Occoquan, Virginia last week. The program was conducted in the Crystal Ballroom of historic Rockledge Mansion, built in the 1750's. Beautiful environment, great group of talented sculptors. I only wish I could have extended the three day program to about three weeks, there was far too much to cover in such a short period of time. My sincere gratitude goes out to Dr. Tony DiFrancesco and Gwen Lockhart of Sculptors-Network, who sponsored the workshop and worked tirelessly to put the program together.

Sculpture #3

Another unfinished head study (getting to be the theme of my work) for this week's sculpture post. I had a model for this, but he wasn't around consistently so much of it was improvised. I enjoyed working with this portrait/expression, and may finish it . . . eventually. End of the month and I didn't quite make the "sculpture a week" I'd planned. I'll be working at this harder in February, hopefully better results!

I saw a photo of a dog in the newspaper that inspired this little clay sketch, used my imagination again to fill in the missing information. Let's not discuss how late I am posting this, or how rough it is.
